When 2007 was coming to a close, there were two movies I was looking forward to: the Dark Knight and Iron Man. Now there’s a new movie on my “to see list.”
Hancock.
It’s been a while since there’s been a Will Smith movie I’ve been anxious to see. Nothing against Smith, he’s a great actor. I just don’t go to the movies too often and when I do it’s usually to see comedy films (I’m in comedy aftger all), a Pixar movie, or some nostalgic movie from my childhood (e.g. Transformers, Batman, Lord of the Rings, 300 which was based on a graphic novel … you get the picture).
But this movie just happens to debunk the lighter side of comics with a comedic flavor. That’s a double play in my book. For instance, despite all the good Hancock does, he still ends up causing more damage. He saves a car from getting hit by a train, but then the train crashes into Hancock and gets wrecked. In comics, Superman would always pull off the miraculous double save.
Check out the trailer.
Jason Bateman co-stars, he’s come a long way since his role as David Hogan on “Valerie.” So much respect goes out to Bateman for making his mark on the big screen.
