Meeting with Andrea Romano at Comic Con

July 29th, 2008 by Don P.

I got a chance to talk to Andrea Romano at Comic Con. She is one of the unsung heroes of animation. She’s worked on countless contemporary classics: from “Jonny Quest” to the “Snorks” to “The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones” to “Duck Tales” to “Tiny Toon Adventures” to the “Batman Animated Series” to “Avatar the Last Airbender…” Phew.

The list goes on and on. Romano also worked with Mako who voiced Uncle Iroh on Avatar. His passing was a sad moment, and it felt good to speak with someone who was with him before his untimely passing.

Negotiations Continue on WGA Strike

February 8th, 2008 by Don P.

Keep your fingers crossed. The WGA strike may be coming to a close in the near future. If this happens, it would be good news for everyone across the board.

  • Home viewers would get to see their favorite shows return, with some only narrowly escaping the chopping block.
  • Actors will begin a late pilot season audition period
  • Film and production crews who were hurt hard by production stops will get to return to work.
  • And it will be back to business as usual for the writers.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed. With the strike going on, pitch meetings for new shows were put on ice and auditions were slow. Hopefully, the production season can be salvaged without too much loss to reality shows. Reality TV programs are cheaper to produce, so it’s likely networks have signed on more reality shows to their roster.

Big thanks to everyone who supported the writers during the strike.

Sleepless Triple Header

October 11th, 2007 by Don P.

So, it continues. Third night in a row. 4am. Working. And, still NO HALO. Plus, I just heard Bungie got around to fixing the bugs in Halo 3 online too. There were some randomization hiccups in the online functionality, where you’d play the same game-type over and over and over and over again. You get the idea.

I digress.

I guess I would be upset at losing all of this sleep, if I wasn’t working on projects that I found to be truly fun and interesting. There’s so much going on right now that it’s difficult to manage my time. But, hey its exciting. I’m up for the challenge. And, I’ll enjoy the this roller coaster ride.

Sleepless Doubleheader

October 10th, 2007 by Don P.

It’s 4am. For the second night in a row I’m up at 4am working. And, no, I’m not playing Halo, nor was I playing Halo earlier. Though, much like in “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” visions of Halo multiplayer games are dancing in my head.

Or, is that supposed to be sugar-plums. Hey, it’s my head and what I want to dance in it is my business. Anyway, I don’t even know what a sugar-plum is. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s some sort of candied plum concoction, devised by an evil anti-dentist cavity monster out of an abstract Brother’s Grimm fairy-tale. But I’m not guessing, he said defiantly.

Anyway, let me go before 4am turns into 5am and then to 6am. No need for me to watch the sun rise again. Watching the sun rise in New York is just not the same as watching it rise over a picturesque Caribbean horizon. You should try it sometime. Get away. You deserve it.

Don P. and Dave Chappelle go on Tour

August 21st, 2007 by Don P.

chappelle.jpgThat’s right. I’m going on tour with Dave Chappelle. Yup, Dave’s back and he’s taking his comedy tour on the road. It’ll be like Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire. I set Dave up for the alley oop, he drives it home with the slam dunk. So, this is will be the last you’ll hear from me for a while.

You’re probably asking yourself. Whoa. Are you serious? Well, sort of. Am, I leaving Brooklyn and physically going on tour with Dave. No (as I kick-up sand). However, I was selected last week to be the voice of the Dave Chappelle tour. Which is pretty cool. So, yes, my voice will be heard with Dave Chappelle’s voice in radio and tv commercials, as the tour hits your neighborhood. But, alas, I won’t actually be on stage. Or, will I?

I guess you’ll just have to buy tickets and find out.

Give Me Back My Son From Cutman Films

July 13th, 2007 by Don P.

Cutman Films spoofed Mel Gibson in Ransom in this clip. If you look closely you’ll see me – kind of like the old game “Where’s Waldo?”
